2023 was an important year for Juggernaut in the Marvel Comics canon as he completed his redemption arc by officially voting for the X-Men and also killed Thanos. However, this year for the juggernaut has certainly brought both good and bad moments, as it was not all victories and achievements, but also heavy losses and pain.

After Mister Sinister successfully conquered the world, he had to save it from alien invaders – in this case, Thanos. So Sinister used the shrinking Juggernaut as a bullet, shooting it into Thanos’ skull, instantly killing the Mad Titan. Juggernaut survives, but is doomed to fly through the universe forever, given the unstoppable speed required to kill Thanos. The 2023 Hellfire Gala is an annual tradition of electing mutant (or mutant-adjacent) heroes to the core X-Men team. This year, Juggernaut officially made his choice, and a smile appeared on his face when his name was called to stand in front of everyone at the ceremony while the X-Man talked about the pride he had in his life. . And then Nimrod appeared.
Nimrod and all of Orchis (current allies of the Guardians) attack the Hellfire Gala and kill almost everyone present. Juggernaut fought Nimrod to his full potential, but the battle ended with Juggernaut’s head exploding and his body being sucked into the Super-Guardian. He was then taken to Orchis Prison, where he was exposed to Mr. Sinister’s clone, Dr. Stasis was supposed to experiment on Juggernaut.
After being captured, Juggernaut is freed by a secret mutant who has infiltrated Orchis to destroy the organization from within. Marco soon reunites with the remaining X-Men and is currently making progress against Orchis. Juggernaut has become an X-Men and now proves his mettle in what may be the most important X-Men battle yet, as the two take revenge for the past and ensure a brighter future for their people.
Much like killing Thanos, Juggernaut’s achievement in joining the X-Men came at a high price in the form of a tragic event that ended his 2023 on a very disappointing note. However, Juggernaut hasn’t given up on the fight yet, and with the way his story is set in the X-Men canon, it’s safe to say his 2024 will be a very bright year.
